New Doctors of Lehigh Valley Heart Specialists Specialize in Angioplasty, Heart Failure, Women's Heart Care and Advanced Cardiac Testing

Lehigh Valley, Pa. (Sept. 17, 2007) – Lehigh Valley Heart Specialists at Lehigh Valley Hospital welcome four new members to its practice of cardiology. Lehigh Valley Heart Specialists is a multi-specialty physician group closely affiliated with Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network (LVHHN). They are located at 1243 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Allentown, Pa., and can be contacted at 610-402-3110.

James A. Burke, M.D., specializes in interventional cardiology, including cardiac catheterization, angioplasty and stenting of the arteries leading to the heart, legs, arms, kidneys and brain. He serves as associate chief of cardiology at LVHHN and completed a cardiology fellowship at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Hospital.

Ronald S. Freudenberger, M.D., is LVHHN's medical director of heart failure. He brings 11 years of experience to this position, and was the director of heart failure and transplantation at the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital before joining Lehigh Valley Heart Specialists. Freudenberger served his cardiology fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Joan E. Homan, M.D., M.B.A., has expertise in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and cardiovascular disease in women. She will provide clinical leadership for Lehigh Valley Heart Specialists in identifying and treating cardiac risk factors in women. Homan completed a cardiology fellowship at Lankenau Hospital.

Matthew M. Schumaecker, M.D., specializes in coronary artery disease, echocardiography and nuclear stress testing. He completed a cardiology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
